Our Method
Here is our general exterior procedure:
- Assess the overall condition of the complete exterior of your home, addressing potential siding as well as wood repair needs.
- Tighten loose joints – windows, siding, trim, fascia, soffits – with screws countersunk
- Caulk and seal all openings – seamless and watertight
- Thoroughly scrape and sand to remove all loose paint
- Sand to restore the integrity of exposed wood surfaces
- Wire-brush and hand-prime bare wood
- Temporarily remove fixtures, including downspouts
- Apply paint by hand. See how our rolling & back-brushing method is better than spraying
- Use high-quality paint – Sherwin-Williams’ 100% acrylic latex paints
- Neat professional work – no paint where it does not belong!
- No payment is accepted until work is completed to the customer’s satisfaction
Benefits of Rolling and Back Brushing:
Our proven method makes a big difference in the quality of your paint job. Learn about how our rolling and back-brushing process is better than spraying.
- Heavier coat means a longer-lasting finish – We use a thickly-napped roller (1.25 inch) for full-on saturation while spray equipment delivers a more superficial coating to surfaces. We’ve noticed that after 5 years, spray jobs start to fade faster, and this has helped us win customers.
- Mechanical forces are important – Exterior surfaces are porous with imperfections, which become even more pronounced with age. By using a roller, the paint is pushed into these contours, which more effectively delivers a watertight seal.
- Adhesion is vital – All paints are formulated with bonding agents. With direct roller-brush to surface penetration the bonding chemistry is more active. Paint simply sticks better for longer when done by hand.
- More of an Even Coat & Less Fading – Our Colorado sunshine hits us with elevated doses of ultraviolet (UV) rays known to cause color fading and dulling. Rolling and back-brushing provides a more uniform saturation as well as a heavier coat than spraying. This results in less fading and color variation over time. In addition, we use high-quality paints to ensure your house will continue to look outstanding for a decade and beyond.
- More Environmentally Friendly – Sprayers cast particulates into the atmosphere. Skillful hand-painting creates no overspray, and all the paint ends up where it should – on your house.
